Style Inspiration: Jenna Lyons

After 26 successful years, creative director of J.Crew Jenna Lyons is leaving the company. Known for taking the brand from its preppy roots and evolving it to reflect a high fashion aesthetic, Lyons also became a pop culture icon herself. This makes her exit bittersweet; we are sad for J.Crew, yet excited to see what Jenna does next.  Her personal style is constantly referred to as "unexpected." The girl knows how to take risks, how to mix prints, and how to add drama. Yet she never leaves the house looking anything less than perfect. It's easy to be inspired by her balancing act. We took Estilo pieces reminescent of Lyons's style and re-worked them into four looks easy to emulate.     Lyons...

Photo Story: April in the French Countryside

For this story, we took inspiration from ideas of snow melting in lavender fields, exploring Roman architecture of small villages, and walking barefoot through a garden in Vienne. While we could only manage a trip to the French Countryside this month in our dreams, we created an airy, romantic look book of what we'd wear.     April in the French Countryside       Top by Zadig & Voltaire | Hat by Kin/K     Merci Beaucoup, Mon Ami Top by Zadig & Voltaire | Shorts by Grace Willow | Hat by Kin/K     The Canals of Comar Top by Acler | Skirt by The Jetset Diaries     Walking in Arles Jacket by Zadig & Voltaire | Jeans by J Brand        ...

On Trend: Short Story

Break out the sugar wax, shorts season is upon us. This year, we are seeing less cut off "jorts" and more flirty pairs in soft, draping fabrics. Think more city-chic; less Daisy Duke.  When the heat rises, the last thing you want to think about is what to wear. To make it easier, we crafted four warm weather looks that you'll want to try this summer. Get these looks with pieces found at Estilo, or incorporate similar pieces from your own wardrobe to make it your own.   The Clash  The secret to mixing patterns is simple: keep it in the same color family. Here we work with neutrals. This cream pinstriped Armanda Top from Joie doesn't overpower the tribal-inspired Elowen Short...

On Trend: Feeling A Little Blue

This season, you'll see many trends: cold shoulders, Breton stripes, and lingerie-inspired "going out" tops just to name a few. Of course, while cute and trendy, these looks aren't accessible for everyone. That's why we're focusing on the easiest trend out there: blue.  We're still feeling a lot of residual love for the dusty pink that ruled the streets last year; but going forward, we think blue is having its moment. Here are some of our favorite pieces from Estilo that incorporate this universally flattering hue.  Bell Bottom Blues Clients love our Equipment signature tops for a good reason: they're versatile, comfortable, and never go out of style. The Equipment Reagan Top takes their standard silk and re-works it into a...

McGuire Denim And The New Off-Duty Uniform

"Anything you buy and wear should make your life better-- on some level." - Marianne McDonald to Vogue Here at Estilo, we are happy to introduce our newest denim line: McGuire. Distinguished by the phantom M embroidery on the back pockets and figure-flattering cuts, the line focuses on designing denim inspired by its humble origins in workwear. However, head designer Marianne McDonald incorporates modern cuts based on her background in sportswear.  After she left the Gap design team in 2010, McDonald vacationed in Nimes, France. There she was reminded of its working-man origins-- how people used to throw on denim garments in the morning for their durability and comfort. From there, the idea of Marjoelle McGuire denim began. The...
